I’m Nolan, the founder of Wabyno. My fascination with watches began in high school, when my brother gave me a Swatch Sistem51 Irony (reference YIZ402S, if you’re curious). Turning it over, I was mesmerized by the swinging balance wheel and the rotor that wound the watch with every movement of my wrist. That watch showed me how special and exciting mechanical watches could be.

During class, I spent hours on my school laptop reading Hodinkee articles and forum threads instead of taking notes. I checked listings every day, dreaming of someday owning the watches on my screen. Over time, I learned about brands, styles, and price ranges in the market, not just for new releases but for pre-owned watches from every era. Just as importantly, I learned how to spot counterfeits and verify authenticity, which matters more than ever now that so many popular watches have replicas.

Years later, on a trip to Sapporo, Japan, I spotted a watch I’d looked at online countless times — an early-2000s Breitling Superocean — sitting in a small shop’s glass case at a bargain price. After some quick research, I brought it home with me to the United States. It turned out to be too big for my wrist, so I sold it, and learned the ins and outs of listing a watch along the way. My hobby of selling watches to fellow enthusiasts began in May 2024. Six months later, I turned that passion into a full-time career, helping others find a watch that means as much to them as my first one did to me.
