Servicing and repair

  • Unless otherwise specified, our watches are sold in their current condition without prior servicing. This approach allows us to offer the most competitive prices on the market, passing the savings directly to our customers. Upon request, we can assess a watch's performance using a timegrapher, providing you with a clearer understanding of its accuracy and functionality.

Many of our modern watches run within or reasonably close to their original factory specifications, and should not require immediate servicing upon purchase. While our neo-vintage and vintage models are inspected to ensure they run smoothly without any functional issues, accuracy and water resistance cannot always be guaranteed due to their age. As a general guideline, we recommend buyers to service these older watches to ensure optimal precision and long-term reliability.

  • We usually recommend having your watch serviced by the original manufacturer, which can be arranged by contacting the brand directly online or through an authorized dealer or boutique. Alternatively, independent watchmakers often offer lower quotes and quicker turnaround times.

At this time, Wabyno does not offer in-house repair services.

  • There is no single answer! Watches typically do not require servicing as frequently as brands often recommend, but there are cases where a watch should be serviced even if nothing is wrong.

While preemptive maintenance can help prevent excessive wear and reduce the risk of component failure, this is primarily a concern for vintage watches, especially those with scarce original parts or movements that haven’t been serviced in decades.

Modern watches, on the other hand, are built to higher standards and often have readily available replacement parts, making frequent servicing less necessary.

As a general guideline, if your watch is relatively modern and running without any obvious issues, there's usually no immediate need for servicing. For vintage pieces, however, proactive servicing can be a wise choice to help ensure longevity.

  • Watches can lose accuracy for a variety of reasons. Often this comes down to age, as components wear down gradually over time. Dried-out lubricants are another frequent culprit, leaving the movement to run poorly. Damage can also strike suddenly, from a hard knock or drop. Water damage is also common, particularly on vintage watches with less robust water resistance.

However, some causes of inaccuracy are less serious. Magnetization of the movement, for example, can easily be corrected with a demagnetizer. Similarly, a watch that appears to be running poorly may simply need to be fully wound, as a low power reserve can sometimes give the impression of poor timekeeping.

Another consideration is that mechanical movements are not as precise as many people think. Some watches leave the factory with a tolerance as wide as 15 seconds per day. It may be worth checking the accuracy specifications of your movement to see whether the inaccuracy is within spec.
