IWC Pilot's Watch Chronograph ref. IW370603

The IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph or Fliegerchronograph (reference 3706) is a 39 mm stainless steel pilot’s chronograph powered by a heavily modified ETA/Valjoux 7750 movement offering day‑date complications, and housed in a robust anti‑magnetic Faraday-cage construction. It also features a matte black, instrument-style dial with stark white Teutonic numerals, the iconic “cut‑off” hour hand, and a sapphire crystal. The watch wears crisp and proportional on almost any wrist thanks to the mid-size case and gently curved lugs. This example is the 3706-03 variant, originally delivered with an English day wheel and fitted on a strap, as presented here. Built like a true tool watch with a screw-down crown (marked by the historic fish symbol) and 60 meters of water resistance, this watch represents a last reminder of IWC’s pure, no-nonsense era.

This watch is in great overall condition, showing typical signs of wear from regular use. The case and bezel exhibit scratches and shallow dings, but the edges remain sharp and the watch retains strong definition generally. On the underside of the case between the lugs, there are two light discoloration marks in the metal finish, which are purely cosmetic and not physical damage. In normal lighting, these marks are very difficult to see. The watch would be easily restorable to near mint condition with a polish, if desired. It comes fitted with a brand new IWC black alligator strap. On a timegrapher in a neutral position, it is running at -4 seconds per day. The day function advances correctly at midnight, while the date changes with a delay of approximately 7–8 hours.
