This 1960s Heuer Carrera features a well-preserved white and silver dial signed by the American retailer Abercrombie & Fitch.
The Heuer Carrera traces its origins to 1962, when Jack Heuer attended the 12 Hours of Sebring and learned of the Carrera Panamericana, a Mexican road race regarded as the most dangerous in the world. Captivated by the memorable pronunciation of the Spanish word carrera and its layered meanings of race, course, and career, Heuer returned to Switzerland and registered the name for a new chronograph watch designed specifically for professional drivers.
Launched at the 1963 Basel Fair, the reference 2447 established the collection's core DNA with a bezel-less 36mm polished steel case, elongated angular lugs, and clean dial reflecting Jack Heuer's belief that legibility should come above all else. Inside was the manually-wound, column-wheel Valjoux 72, now regarded among the most legendary calibers in watchmaking history. Fun fact: this movement also powered the first Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (introduced the same year) and the Universal Genève Compax “Nina Rindt”.
Many variations of the Carrera 2447 were created, including the 2447T — denoting the tachymeter variant — which stands as a foundational reference among the earliest Carreras. This example is a second execution “albino dial” 2447T, defined by its silver sunburst dial with white textured subdials, and an outer tachymeter scale printed in black rather than the red found on the vast majority of 2447T examples. The albino configuration alone is already exceptionally rare, but this watch becomes even more remarkable with the “Abercrombie & Fitch Co” signature printed above the 6 o'clock subdial, dating to a time when Abercrombie & Fitch operated as the premier American outfitter and sporting goods retailer in New York City.
For the serious vintage collector, this watch represents a rare convergence of historical significance and retailer provenance that almost never comes to market. The only other documented 2447T bearing the A&F signature was sold by Bazamu Watches, and no additional examples are known to exist in the public record. Given the almost nonexistent scholarship on this particular configuration, we hope this listing contributes to the broader understanding of Carrera history.

This watch has been left unrestored since we received it. The case has been lightly cleaned to remove accumulated dirt and grime, but we have not polished or refinished any of the surfaces.
Overall, this watch is in good vintage condition. Expected signs of regular wear are present throughout the case, including scratches, scuffs, dings, and gouges. There are also some very minor stain spots on the case. The dial shows normal patina, such as dark marks on the 3 o'clock subdial and oxidation to the hands and indices, but is otherwise in excellent condition given its age. The acrylic crystal shows some scratches and marks that can be gently buffed out upon request. Please note that some of the crystal wear may appear to be on the dial in the photos — feel free to reach out for clarification on any specific area.
The movement is running properly with all functions operating as intended, though its service history is unknown. Measured on a timegrapher in a neutral position, this watch ran at approximately +30 seconds per day with an amplitude around 240° and a beat error of 0.1ms.
