  • Tudor’s Big Block is the first automatic chronograph produced by either Tudor or Rolex. The name “Big Block” alludes to the case’s increased thickness compared to earlier Wilsdorf chronographs. Dating back to 1989, this watch houses the reliable Valjoux 7750 movement and rotor, combined with the vintage charm of a pre-Daytona chronograph.

    The first series of Big Block was offered in three configurations: a steel tachymeter bezel (94300), a 12-hour rotating bezel (94210), and the coveted bakelite tachymeter bezel (94200). Among the Tudor Big Blocks, this first series is particularly sought after by collectors due to its rarity and appearance. Notably, these early models had Rolex-signed cases, bracelets, and crowns — a detail that changed with the release of the 79100 series.

  • The watch is in great overall vintage condition, with most case and bracelet wear limited to scratches and shallow marks and scuffs. As such, a light polish could restore the exterior to a like-new appearance without compromising the watch’s integrity and fullness, if desired by the new owner. The crystal has scratches, including some more noticeable ones on and next to the cyclops, as shown in the pictures. The dial is excellently preserved especially given its age, while the hands show some signs of aging. The watch runs smoothly, with all functions operating as intended.
