The Tudor Submariner ref. 79090 captures the brand’s ethos of delivering Rolex-level quality at a more attainable price, presenting its own take on one of the most iconic watches ever made. It marked a design evolution with the introduction of triangular hour markers at 6 and 9 o’clock, while its utilitarian bi-directional bezel — suited for versatile everyday timing — was replaced by a uni-directional bezel in the following generation. While Rolex had already shifted to sapphire crystals, the 79090 retained the domed plexiglass that lends the watch a warm vintage character still prized by collectors today. Nodding to its heritage, this watch is paired with the Tudor-signed folded Oyster 9315 bracelet and features the iconic Rolex crown seen on many vintage Tudor models. Powered by a modified ETA 2824-2 automatic caliber within its 39mm case (marketed as 40mm), the 79090 reflects Tudor’s evolving identity, born from Rolex’s foundation yet forged into a brand with its own legacy.

The watch is in great overall vintage condition, with most case and bracelet wear limited to scratches and shallow marks. We have preserved this watch exactly as it was received, keeping it in its original state. The polished areas of the case exhibit moderate wear (accentuated by the camera lens and lighting), while the brushed surfaces show fewer signs of wear. The hands display age-appropriate patina. The crystal bears a some light scratches, with more noticeable marks on the cyclops. Additionally, there is some small debris visible beneath the crystal, while the dial itself is in excellent shape. The movement is running smoothly, with all functions operating as intended, though the service history is unknown. This watch will fit a 7.25” wrist. Additional photos are available on request.

This watch comes with its original box (marked “91.00.64”), leather card holder, and warranty papers dating to October 9th, 1994, sold by Tai Hing Watch company in Hong Kong.
