The Carl F. Bucherer Patravi TravelTec is a bold, oversized timepiece with distinctive design and technical elements unlike anything else on the market. First introduced in 2006, the Patravi TravelTec offered a novel take on the triple time zone complication that helped shape the brand's modern identity as a respected manufacture.

The reference 00.10620.08.33.02 employs a substantial 46.6mm stainless steel case, finished with a mix of brushed and polished surfaces, thick blocky lugs, and rectangular pushers for an undeniably masculine and sporty appearance. The dial carries a graphite gray sunburst finish, officially catalogued as black, punctuated by red accents and crisp white detailing.

Inside is the exclusive CFB 1901.1 caliber, which combines a tri-compax chronograph with a magnified date display and, most importantly, the ability to track three time zones simultaneously. Local time is shown via the central hour and minute hands, with the hour hand adjustable independently of the minute hand via the crown for quick time zone changes while traveling. A clever quick-set function lets the date move both forward and backward, automatically shifting to the previous day when the local hour hand is set backward past midnight, such as when flying east to west.

As with many GMT watches, home time is tracked by a red central GMT hand that reads against the fixed outermost 24-hour scale, marked with small white Arabic numerals. The third time zone is displayed using a larger rotating 24-hour scale positioned just above the hour markers, read in conjunction with the same red GMT hand. This scale is adjusted by releasing the patented locking monopusher at the 10 o'clock position, which can be rotated in either direction to advance or reverse the third time zone as needed. A useful guide engraved on the caseback lists major world cities alongside their time differences relative to GMT, simplifying on-the-fly time zone conversions.

Achieving this triple time zone function required Carl F. Bucherer's engineers and watchmakers to integrate the case and movement in an unprecedented way, embedding part of the patented time zone selection mechanism directly into the case itself. This portion of the mechanism is visible in action through a small window beside the pusher, offering a rare glimpse into the watch's inner workings as the time zone is changed.
