Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 ref. 2583

$2,800.00

This curved rectangular Vintage 1945 watch echoes the spirit of Girard-Perregaux's Art Deco original.

The Vintage 1945 collection by Girard-Perregaux pays homage to a defining moment in both history and design, drawing direct inspiration from a model introduced at the close of World War II. In 1945, Girard-Perregaux introduced a watch with an angular yet gently curved silhouette, its case and crystal arcing from top to bottom and side to side in a convex profile immediately distinctive to the eye. Fitting to the time, the watch embodied the Art Deco aesthetic that defined the era, a design language that would largely disappear from watchmaking in the decades that followed.

In 1995, Girard-Perregaux introduced the Vintage 1945 collection as a tribute to its original postwar design, as mechanical watchmaking and vintage aesthetics were enjoying renewed appreciation among collectors. As one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world (with origins dating back to 1791), Girard-Perregaux drew inspiration directly from its own design archives, lending an aesthetic language established long before “vintage” merely became a trend in watchmaking.

The reference 25830-0-11-6146 showcases the line's signature curved rectangular case and crystal, with pronounced lugs that sit flush with the strap and comfortably hug the wrist. Its black dial is distinguished by Art Deco–inspired luminous Arabic numerals and elongated baton indices, along with a reinterpretation of the original's railway minute track, a small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock, and a date window between 1 and 2. Powering the watch is the caliber GP3300, designed, built, and finished in-house at Girard-Perregaux's manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, visible beneath the sapphire exhibition caseback.
