  • Heuer’s first dive watch, the reference 844, debuted in 1979 and marked a turning point for the brand. Initially outsourced to French manufacturer Georges Monnin, the 844’s success helped revive Heuer during a period of financial uncertainty following the quartz crisis. This example is a rare Mk1 model, distinguished by its cathedral hour hand, pencil minute hand, wide base seconds hand with a circular lume, and no lume pip on the bezel. Interestingly, the dial corresponds to the Mk2 variant, suggesting this watch may be a transitional piece bridging the two early Monnin iterations.

  • This watch is in good vintage condition, exhibiting expected signs of wear such as scratches, scuffs, and minor denting on the case. The crystal has surface scratches and a small chip between the 11 and 12 o’clock markers, but no major cracks or structural damage. The unidirectional bezel rotates smoothly with light clicks, and the original crown remains in good shape, screwing down to the case securely. The dial is in excellent condition for its age, exhibiting an attractive patina, while the hands display notable oxidation consistent with age. While the service history is unknown, the movement performs well, with both the date complication and quickset function operating without issue.

  • This watch does not come with its original box or papers.
