Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Réserve de Marche ref. Q1488402 / 140.8.93.S

$7,750.00

This Master Réserve de Marche pairs Jaeger-LeCoultre's pioneering power reserve complication with a diamond-set bezel and a rare burgundy dial.

Jaeger-LeCoultre holds the distinction of being the first watch manufacture to introduce a power reserve indicator on a production wristwatch, debuting the complication in 1948 with caliber 481 inside the Powermatic (also known as the Powerwind), followed by the Futurematic in 1951. When the Master Control collection launched in 1992 as a homage to the Maison's golden-age watchmaking of the 1950s, adding a power reserve model was a natural choice, and the Master Réserve de Marche arrived the following year.

The reference Q1488402 features a 37mm polished stainless steel case with subtly curved lugs, framed by a bezel set with an array of diamonds. Its sun-brushed burgundy dial varies in tone and brightness, shifting from warm brown to maroon, then velvety red, as light moves across its textured surface. Unlike the standard Master Réserve de Marche models, this variation features elegantly shaped Arabic numerals applied at each cardinal point. The complications are laid out with considered symmetry on the dial: the power reserve indicator between nine and twelve, the date between twelve and three, and a running seconds subdial above six o'clock.

Driving the watch is the automatic JLC caliber 928/2, displayed through the exhibition caseback and revealing the meticulous craftsmanship and exceptional finishing expected of the “watchmaker's watchmaker.” Every component is manufactured and assembled in-house at the Manufacture in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland, a testament to the house's unmatched fine-watchmaking heritage.
