The Tambour Réveil GMT is a novel iteration of Louis Vuitton’s signature sports watch, offering three practical complications — a date, GMT, and alarm.
Introduced in 2002, the Louis Vuitton Tambour marked the Maison’s distinctive entry into the world of luxury sports watches, defined by a design language unlike anything else on the market. The watch takes its name from the French word for drum, featuring a case sculpted from a single block of metal that is wider at the base than at the dial, with sloping sides that create its distinctive silhouette. Among the earliest Tambour releases, the reference Q1152 integrates three complications into its design: a date at 3 o’clock, a GMT (or second time zone) displayed through an aperture at 6 o’clock, and an alarm activated by the yellow hand positioned above the inner dial. When activated, the alarm sounds with a distinct buzz, which can be set up to twelve hours in advance.
The watch is unmistakably Louis Vuitton, with a brown and beige dial that reflects the brand’s signature color palette, a yellow alarm hand that echoes the iconic mustard-colored stitching on Louis Vuitton bags, and a black rubber strap embossed with Georges Vuitton’s iconic monogram pattern. Visible through the sapphire display caseback, the automatic-winding Louis Vuitton caliber LV 113 is finished with perlage and brushed detailing, along with a partially skeletonized winding rotor bearing the LV logo. This movement is based on the La Joux-Perret caliber LJP 5900, which is derived from the historic A. Schild caliber AS 5008 that first gained relevance in the 1970s by offering alarm functionality at a time when quartz movements could not.
The LV 113 runs on two barrels, one driving the standard timekeeping functions and the other powering the alarm. Unlike most alarm watches (including the Jaeger-LeCoultre Memovox), its single central rotor winds both barrels in opposite directions, eliminating the need to hand-wind the alarm. The desired alarm time is set by rotating the central hand via the second crown, with the alarm activated by pulling out the crown and silenced by pushing it back in — the opposite of the Memovox. This allows the alarm to remain “off” when the crown is in its normal position, which maintains water resistance and prevents accidental activation during use.

This watch is in fair condition, showing noticeable signs of regular wear including scratches, scuffs, gouges, and dents on the case. The dial exhibits very minor signs of age, including some dust particles and a small abrasion near the bottom of the 6 o'clock marker. The crystal has surface scratches along with a few tiny nicks along the edge.
The movement is running properly with all functions operating as intended. According to the booklet’s service notes, this watch was serviced by Louis Vuitton in 2012 and again in 2017. Please note that the GMT wheel is slightly misaligned. Additional photos and timegrapher results are available on request.
