Omega Speedmaster Apollo XI 20th Anniversary ref. 3590.59 / 145.0022, complete set

The Omega Speedmaster Apollo XI ref. 3590.59 was released in 1989 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first lunar landing, produced in a numbered series of just 2,000 pieces for the U.S. market. Mechanically identical to the standard Moonwatch ref. 145.0022, it features a 42mm stainless steel case with a domed Hesalite crystal and screw-down caseback engraved with NASA flight qualification text. At its heart is the manual-wind Calibre 861, the gilt-finished Lemania-based movement renowned for its reliability and connection to spaceflight history. What sets this U.S. edition apart from a standard Moonwatch of the era is its unique side engraving, ‘XXXX/2000 Apollo XI 1969,’ a detail that underscores its collectability, particularly since this watch comes as a complete set.

This watch is in great vintage condition, with normal signs of use. We have left the watch unpolished, preserving it as it was received in its original state. Since it was only lightly cleaned, some dirt and debris remain on the case and bracelet. The case exhibits primarily surface scratches alongside some small nicks around the bezel and lugs. The Hesalite crystal has light to moderate scuffs and aberrations (though these could be easily polished out if desired), as well as some dust under the crystal. The dial is very well preserved, with luminous material that has aged to a rich pumpkin patina. The movement is running smoothly with all functions operating as intended, though the service history is unknown. The cushion inside the wooden box has begun to deteriorate. This watch comes as a complete set with its original inner and outer boxes, calibre 861 instruction manual, card holder with miscellaneous booklets, black velcro strap, commemorative Apollo XI patch, special edition certificate ‘signed’ by Lt.
