Panerai Submersible Forze Speciali ref. PAM01239, warranty and box

$19,500.00

Limited to just 300 pieces in its release year of 2022, the PAM01239 represents a unique and exclusive expression of Panerai’s enduring connection to the Italian military.

Officine Panerai has supplied precision instruments to the Italian Navy since 1910, a relationship that has given rise to some of the most purposeful tool watches ever made. The Submersible Forze Speciali reference PAM01239 continues that tradition, built in partnership with Italy's special forces as both an instrument of function and a tribute to the men who carry it.

The 47mm titanium case is finished in black DLC (diamond-like carbon) coating, combining exceptional durability with a weight that remains surprisingly manageable given its sheer size. Mounted on the case is a unidirectional rotating blue ceramic bezel with yellow numerals, a visual tribute to the famed Marina Militare frogmen, who are further honored by an engraving on the caseback. The black dial carries a bicompax chronograph layout, with small seconds at 9 o'clock and a 12-hour timer at 3 o'clock, the subdials styled as military crosshairs, and the peripheral countdown scale (traditionally called a regatta timer) here reinterpreted as a “time to target” indicator.

Every element of this Submersible is governed by utilitarian purpose. Luminescent material is applied generously to the sword-shaped hands, hour markers, sub-dials, and bezel pip to ensure uncompromising legibility in any conditions, and 300 meters of water resistance allows the watch to be used during professional diving. Rather than a standard screwdown crown, this watch uses Panerai's signature patented lever-locking crown protecting device, an invention central to the brand's identity and to the historical development of water-resistant tool watches.

Powering the PAM01239 is the in-house Panerai caliber P.9100/R, a three-day movement housing two distinct complications. The first is a flyback chronograph with central minutes and seconds hands, controlled by pushers at 10 and 8 o'clock, which allows the elapsed time to be reset and restarted in a single action without stopping the chronograph. The second is the aforementioned “time to target” or regatta countdown, operated by the pusher at 4 o'clock, where each press walks the chronograph minutes hand backward in one-minute increments to set the countdown on the peripheral scale.
