The Seiko Prospex Marinemaster reference SBDX014 was introduced in 2015 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Seiko dive watches, drawing design inspiration from the pioneering “Grandfather Tuna” 6159-7010 and the “Golden Tuna” 7549-7009. Nicknamed the “Emperor Tuna,” the SBDX014 features the Tuna’s signature two-layer construction, consisting of a titanium inner container protected by a shock-resistant outer shroud, now rendered in scratch-resistant black ceramic. A defining feature of this watch is the rose gold plating on the bezel, crown, and screws, which offers a striking contrast against the dark case and pays homage to the Golden Tuna that inspired the design. Powering the Emperor Tuna is the Seiko caliber 8L35, derived from the Grand Seiko 9S55 and developed, manufactured, and assembled in-house at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Iwate Prefecture. This watch is secured to the wrist by Seiko’s iconic accordion-style strap in black silicone, originally developed to accommodate the compression of diving suits at high pressure.

This watch is in great condition, showing modest signs of normal wear including superficial scratches and scuffs. The bracelet's metal clasp and loop show the most use, with scratches and minimal plating loss on the loop's edges. There is an imperceptible mark on the crystal near the 11 o'clock index. The movement is running properly with all functions operating as intended. Additional photos and timegrapher results are available on request.

This watch comes as a complete set with its original box, instruction booklet, and warranty card dated to 2025. Within the United States, this watch is covered under its factory warranty until April 2028.
